Traction Unit – 2 of 4 – At Home Rehab Exercises {With Dr. Tracie}

Doctor Tracie here from Ambiente Gallerie I’d like to spend a couple of minutes showing you how to use your home
traction unit for your neck your cervical traction you then you’ll see
when you get your box and you open it up that there is a really nicely done
instruction sheet on how to install it so I’m not going to go into that in the
video if you of how to attach the rope to this and how to put in the door if
you have any questions or need to troubleshoot let us know we’ll help you
but I think they did a great job with that I’m gonna focus this discussion on
how to do the cervical traction so when you set up your traction unit home
you’ll need to set up how the height of it and the way you want to do that is
that this guy here is about at your chin height that would be the most
comfortable for you so now I’m gonna go ahead and demonstrate how to do it
everyday so you’re gonna take this guy here and put it right behind the middle
of your neck and as you can see I’m quite close to the wall
so don’t be afraid that you’re gonna be pretty close to the wall this one’s
gonna go just into the tip of your chin hands in a nice loose grip facing the
back and to do traction you’re just going to bend your knees and you’re
gonna hold each repetition anywhere from two to five seconds a couple different ways you can try it
you can try more with a straight down approach or you can try with a little
lean away you should feel that in your neck you’re also gonna notice that you
are in charge of how much pressure that you’re applying or allowing that gravity
to take it so you want to start very gently because you potentially could
make yourself sore and if any soreness does occur just like your instructional
sheet says you can use some ice afterwards you’re going to start with
about 10 repetitions twice a day in the morning and at night and move up to 60
as the directions say again this is the best way to keep your spine healthy
during your corrective care and really for life if you have any questions about
home traction and then in the unit and getting it put together and how to do it
please let your doctor know and will sit down with you and we’ll show you exactly
what you need to know to be successful thanks
