hey everyone welcome to the dish I’m
onna Christina thank you so much for tuning in
hey did you know that most Americans overeat and they don’t even know it and
it is one of the leading contributing factors to unnecessary weight gain but
it doesn’t have to be that way and joining me today is the food expert miss
Ani she’s also the owner of paleo nummies
thank you so much for being oh thanks for having me hey you’re gonna help us
portion things out and get us I’m gonna get I’m gonna get you on the right track
that’s what I do that’s my day I love what you do and I love the concept of
your business and for those of you who haven’t heard of paleo nummies
you’re about to hear all about it but I love your story and I love how you got
started because it’s something that you didn’t even realize that you were gonna
end up doing know about it I after the birth of my second child is when I
really just a life had gotten in the way I didn’t recognize who I saw in the
mirror and I just kind of started making little changes you know I got a trainer
which led me into CrossFit which ultimately led me to a nutritionist and
that’s where I learned how to eat and I started just having a great experience
with it I started inspiring people unbeknownst to me they asked me to cook
for them and here’s paleo gnome and now you have a business now I have a
business one thing led to another and I just kind of went with it and there was
a need and people just responded really well and it’s but it literally has
changed my life and so I just kind of thought well someone helped me so that’s
kind of what I want to be for other people pay it for it and honestly I love
what you do because so many people don’t realize they can start working out and
usually at the beginning of the year they want to get and if they do go ready
teen they get they do great but they don’t realize how important the
nutrition aspect is of it and that could really help you see all the difference
yes you can work out all you want but ultimately if your nutrition isn’t right
it’s you may not see those changes no you won’t see those changes and it gets
very frustrating and that’s where I that’s where I come in
we teach people about portion control we teach people the right things to eat why
do you eat the right things what the right things do for your body this is
incredible I mean kids so can we talk about these recipes yes listen
y’all are gonna be just so amazed at these recipes and how good they taste
yes so let’s what are we doing first so
we’re gonna make a taco skillet and mean this is actually on the menu for this
week so taco skillet with the paleo tortillas
but one thing that I teach people is if you are prepping on your own and home
try to make the most of each recipe so we’ll go ahead and start and we’ll talk
about this I’m turning this down a no-talking because it started Steve
weeks I know what it took I know were they high vegetables
okay go crazy with vegetables okay vegetables we don’t need to worry about
that get your vegetables in so we’re gonna do some onions in here welcome
people will say no carbs if they don’t realize everything has car everything
has kind of eventual good ones these are the fibrous carbs okay yes and you’re
just kind of want those to kind of simmer in your pot and of course we use
this with turkey you can use this with brown beef
yeah veggies veggies you can go totally overboard with veggies like I said you
know if you’re making this and the recipe calls for a pound of Turkey do it
with two pounds make the most of it so you can have it you can always breathing
you can this is a great this I did did this one I love homemade Mexican and
it’s very versatile you can use the end result and a salad we’re actually you
can use it on the Paleo tortillas is what our daily here it is so yummy and
what we’re actually gonna do is we’re actually gonna put the once we get the
vegetables and all that kind of mixed in we’re actually gonna put it in lettuce
wrap so can use the tortillas for dessert what yes you can they say that
food that healthy food does not taste good well you are totally I’m totally
changing everybody yeah and that’s great of what I love I love when people find
that this is delicious and that it helps them and they tell me that they’ve lost
weight or they’re reaching their goals and most importantly I love when they
come in look I have goose bumps people come in and they tell me I fed
this to my kids and they loved it which is great that’s a whole tray it totally
because normally how’s your daughter’s my daughter’s
today she is a fantastic eater and I usually run many recipes by her okay and
she’s wonderful at tasting the recipes but once we have the veggies going and
all that we’re gonna add I guess the show we’re gonna do Tomatoes and that
gives you a little bit of juice because what the seasoning that we’re gonna use
is one of paleo nom nom seasonings and we’ll go ahead and let’s this is our
ground turkey and this is two pounds of ground turkey so we’re just gonna let
that simmer well and one good trick to the portion sizing I mean obviously she
takes care of it for you so you really don’t have to worry about that honestly
the trick people need to get used to is measuring measure fall out your
measuring cups pull out your measuring cups and when one of the things that I
help you with with paleo num-nums is on the label of all of our muscies comes a
serving size recommendation so you get the taco skillet and it says one serving
size equals one and a half cups so you know right then in there that one and a
half cups you’re getting the right amount in our grab-and-go what I usually
tell people if you don’t know anything about nutrition macros eating healthy
portion sizes you know none of that you can pretty much get anything out of our
grab and go right and it’s going to be a whole food well-rounded diet is what we
love this I love this concept Bonnie I cannot wait to actually try this food

we just finished making a yummy recipe that I cannot wait to try I say about
this so this is the taco skillet and one of the things one of the things we
strive for at paleo nums you eat with your eyes first so your dish has to be
pretty I like colors when you can add the color so this is a taco skillet has
our own taco seasoning that we’ve created lots of veggies ground turkey
we’re serving it on lettuce wraps because we’re using the tortillas for
dessert I love that – that versatile yes they can go with either your main meal
or dessert exactly which and I want it I want to get into this because people
often think that when they’re on a diet they can’t have dessert but it’s really
all about portion control it’s limiting what you’re putting in your body exactly
it’s about portion control and it’s about knowing when you can eat and what
you can eat at the right time right so organization timing and portion control
that is how you start to get on the right track exactly guys and you can
visit paleo nums they can help you out with that but let’s get into the dessert
I’m gonna try this what you talk to us about so I we’ve we’ve created a paleo
tortilla and I’ve got the batter here mm-hmm
and now this is the part that’s measured out remember we said vegetables you can
write as many vegetables as possible okay when you’re talking about extra fat
and carbs this is where you measure out so we’ve pre-portioned our we’ve created
macros for this delicious it’s like looking at you turn to God the Dre but I
know it’s really good like on a salad with others – oh yeah put some avocado
with it or one of some of our avocado aioli it is to die for
so the tortillas we make those out now we measure everything just because
that’s how we create our macros – I know exactly what’s you’re putting in your
body okay and we’ve measured that out so we know each tortilla is a certain set
because we’ve measured that okay and doesn’t take very
super-easy I actually got this recipe on Pinterest so if anybody wants to know
not all my recipes are your own right they’re not my own and if they’re not my
own they’re actually on my Pinterest pay or the the businesses Pinterest page
you’re more than welcome to so we already have one created okay and the
tortillas come out almost looking kind of like a crepe so they’re super soft
and this is where it’s super delicious to add you can add whatever berries
strawberries pineapple mango has raspberries whatever you want we’ve got
blueberries mashing them up and to kind of get my yes yes so basically you just
kind of fold this over now remember you could end here but we’re gonna eat with
our eyes first so what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna drizzle just a little bit of
honey over it so yummy I love so yummy and then one of my favorite cinnamon is
the cinnamon yes and you know cinnamon is a great antioxidant it’s so good for
you and it’s just going to add that little bit of just pizazz and now you’ve
really just kind of have this super fancy dessert what is super yummy tasty
for people it is and especially when you’ve actually paired it with the taco
stylet it goes right into you’re saving the extra fat that’s in this because
you’re not having any other carbs or the tortillas with that so that you have a
nice well-balanced and if you are unhappy after this dinner I can’t help
you these are so tasty obviously I tried this one and I’m familiar with what this
tastes like but again it’s all about portion control and really ani can help
you out with that this is so exciting for you and that you’re bringing this to
our area because so many people need help yes with this people we I have a

right well something I’ve shared with you that I love doing because I know
that you’re into healthy good food is juicing that I don’t I know that’s
really popular people like to juice to cleanse yes we don’t necessarily like to
do it for that but I know that sometimes it’s difficult to have to eat so many
fruits and veggies and so this is a good way it’s almost impossible to get the
allotted amount of veggies and right you see it and so I think this is a good way
to get some nutrition some vitamins in and so I’ve already kind of mix some
things together and once I think cool about juicing is you can kind of mix any
fruits and veggies don’t you think you can and it’s super important that
yes everyone loves the juice but you bet to you you got to get your veggies so
I’m gonna start this I know it’s gonna to get really loud but to kind of finish
this off does she love that down I love the smell right isn’t it smell so
good it smells so fresh yummy yum yum yum yum so and here I put kind of a
mixture I did green apples which I love I think it always gives so much flavor
to it oranges which they’re the blood orange
is very pretty color lemons really I think that it’s kind of
cool just when you’re done is to I know that more is still gonna be coming out
its are gonna make a mess but to kind of squeeze the the lemon in when you’re
done you want to try that yes just kind of squeeze as much as you want
but I put spinach carrots cucumbers celery so those are some good fruits or
veggies that you can put in into the juice and then of course the green
apples oranges and lemons mm-hmm do you love it some way so no it’s delicious
it’s actually like it’s actually perfect you can’t taste anything over the other
oh that’s very Russia it’s again an easy way to get some some good veggies and
fruit yeah gather at once but listen have you ever heard of the Shatan war no
I haven’t well there’s a really cool event that’s going on that I want to
invite everybody to so tonight tomorrow and Sunday they’re gonna be putting on a
show so it’s by leshan Tong hopefully I said that right and they’re putting on a
production called a streetcar named desire and you can get your tickets
