SIMPLE DINNER IDEAS 🍴 Quick healthy family meals! (Back to School Schedule)


so this is gonna be my new video series
I want to show you guys my table studying every month how I do it how I
make it all festive also share some simple healthy meals with you as I’m in
the process of making an effort to do more family meals I’m going to make
everything available for you on my blog with links to different things in the
description of this video tonight is our back-to-school night
special family dinner and I wanted to show you guys how simple it was to
create this fun back-to-school setting for the kids the kids just think it’s so
fun when I make it a little extra special by adding fun decor and having
like a theme getting really festive my goal this year is to get a lot better
at doing family dinners I created a blog post and I’ve included a free printable
and grocery list you think it’s important to include the kids as much as
possible they need to learn to help so I make spaghetti for the kids but I
love doing spaghetti squash for me and Shawn and some of my kids like the
spaghetti squash but I always make the noodles just in case so the easiest way
I’ve found to bake the spaghetti squash is to just stop a bunch of holes in it stop a bunch of holes in it and bake it
in the oven for like an hour I think I just go off how it looks I bake it for
at 400 for about an hour until it looks until it looks golden brown and then
I’ll test it too with a knife just to make sure it’s soft so I’ll take the
knife after it’s been baking in the oven for like 40 minutes I’ll take the knife
and just see if it’s tender now this one is one of my favorite I
love pasta salad but add a lot of lettuce to it so it’s like actually a
salad with a little bit of pasta on it and in this one I just cooked up lots of
different kinds of pasta laid it on top of some fresh lettuce then I just put
lots of different things and I like to be creative so this one I have a little
bit of zucchini and I sauteed it just a little bit to make it a little tender I
put some mozzarella balls in theirs and fresh tomatoes some fresh bell peppers
some pepper teenies this is my favorite dressing oh my gosh Olive Garden
dressing seriously now this recipe is so easy all you need
is flatbread barbecue sauce some baked chicken fresh mozzarella cheese and
spinach then we just bake this for about 15-20 minutes at 375 just to kind of
warm it and melt the cheese and it’s so good super simple to make so just a couple tips to make your
family mealtime go a lot smoother first of all meal prep is important what
I do since we eat a lunch again and most of our recipes oh and most of our
recipes include chicken so at the beginning of the week I always bake a
bunch of check it makes my meal prep time go a lot faster and so I just have
a whole bunch of chicken breasts cooked in my fridge and then I can easily put
together the meals each night I really think it’s important to make dinner time
fun we always start with family prayer but then we go around the table and we
share our highs and lows for the day and then I like to share some kind of a
spiritual thought or lesson and I found these really great resources on Amazon
these two books I will link in the description of this video but I’ve
really liked them both it’s kind of fun to have a little spiritual thought and
then play some games and I also found this on Amazon and I will link it in the
description I really believe that family dinners are an important part of
childhood I haven’t been that great with it so far but I’m ready to make some
changes I’ve just always had excuses like my kids are little we always had
babies and now I have a three and a half year old he’s my baby
hopefully we’ll have another baby soon for now all my kids are old enough to
sit at the table I don’t have high chairs and it’s just something that I
really want to get better at I want to be able to sit down I I’m usually just
feeding all my kids different meals and at different times and so this year I’m
really making an effort to sit down together as a family safe more family
prayers and share our highs and lows and just have some time together each night
because when the kids are in school life gets crazy I feel like we’re rarely
together as a family always in different directions and trying to get homework
done so I feel like we’re always rushing but I really want to take the time to
slow down have some family dinners and to create some great family memories for
my kids
