Paleo AIP Diet: How to Get all the Micronutrients You Need on the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol!


So one thing that was very very cool to
learn in the Paleo AIP protocol is that it turns out that our micronutrient
needs so I’m not talking about macronutrients talking about
micronutrient needs are best met when we eat half of our calories from animal
foods and half of our calories from plant foods but but but it’s incredibly
important to remember and realize that because half of our calories come from
animal foods doesn’t mean that half of your plate should be animal foods and
this is very interesting because there’s a lot of emphasis nowadays on more
animal foods and more of that which to me kind of makes sense and and for me
personally animal proteins are much more healing I mean as you know in the Paleo AIP Diet we can’t have like nuts and seeds and all that kind of stuff we don’t do
well with that but it was interesting when I read from her book I think I have
it somewhere I’m diving deep into this book that 1/2 of our calories should come from
plant foods and I find that very interesting because in my journey I used
to struggle a lot with many plant foods because of my digestive system just everything was painful or a trigger like
not too much too much pain but it triggered inflammation and caused not
constipation but bloating I mean sometimes diarrhea that kind of stuff
like it just it’s been a very challenging journey for me when it comes
to eating more plant-based foods but I noticed the more I heal my system the
more my I heal my entire body the better I do with vegetables actually seems that
way I don’t know I’ll keep exploring and experimenting but it was interesting to
read that in the book that half of our calories should come from animal foods and half
from plant foods and she also talks about your plate should be 3/4 veggies
so if you divide your plate in four equal parts three of those parts should
be vegetables and then quarter of that should be animal products so whether
that’s your meat or your red meat or seafood or something like that and it’s
interesting I personally want to have a bigger portion of meat and all that kind
of stuff cuz I love it and it feels really good in my system but like I said
I really want to commit to this and I want to do it the right way so if I need
more phytonutrients and all the micronutrients from all the other stuff
the plants and all the other stuff that’s what I’m gonna do so I think it’s
something very interesting to remember that the best ratio that seems to meet
our micronutrient needs is that 3/4 veggies in our plate and then in terms
of calories half of our calories come from animal foods half from plant foods because
remember animal foods are very calorie dense they’re they’re more calorically
dense than some plant so just keep that in mind that it
doesn’t mean that your whole plate, half of your plate should be animals but I think
that’s an interesting thing to remember and consider and play around with if
you’re doing a lot of healing for your leaky gut and your digestive system and
it’s tough for you to handle so many veggies right now maybe do a little more
meat maybe a little more of the healthy fats like an olive oil or that kind of
thing while you’re healing your system and making sure you’re using maybe
digestive enzymes and HCl with pepsin I think you forget now for some reason
it’s it’s I’m forgetting the name now but yeah using some kind of digestive
aid while you’re healing your system and then making sure you’re doing bone broth
and collagen peptides or whatever kind of thing you think is helping you to
heal… things like ginger, aloe vera, whatever things help you personally maybe
I’ll share a lot more about that because I I’ve played around with so many things
to heal my digestive system and I think I’m doing so much better right now so
