NSC agrees to push ahead with food aid to N. Korea despite political situation

The South Korean government also plans to
provide 8 million U.S. dollars in humanitarian aid to North Korea through international organizations. The National Security Council announced this
afternoon that it will move forward with the 8-million dollar aid to help North Korean
children and pregnant women… at the request of the WFP and UNICEF. The council also says it will push ahead with
food aid to North Korea,… a gesture it says should not be affected by politics. The remarks came during a meeting chaired
by National Security Advisor Chung Eui-yong,… where council members discussed the World
Food Programme’s recent report on the North’s food situation. The NSC plans to continue reviewing specific
plans for the food aid,… also reflecting public opinion on the matter.
