talk about one of the biggest pitfalls
of the Paleo diet. Now, I am a big fan
of the Paleo diet because it eliminates
processed foods and sugars. And that can obviously
help us live longer, prevent deadly diseases,
and prevents us from becoming obese. However, with that being
said, a recent study that was done on Paleo
dieters for six months showed that the subjects’ blood
iodine levels plummeted 49%. Now, if you don’t
know this already, iodine is critical for
your thyroid optimization. So in order for your
body to convert T4 into T3 to the active
thyroid hormone that can help regulate
your metabolism and help you burn more calories
and burn more body fat, is determined by iodine levels. So non-Paleo foods that
have iodine in them are not desirable
by a lot of people. Most of it is things like dairy
and cereal– fortified cereals that have iodine in it. So one of the best
ways to get iodine is number one, find a
high quality supplement that you can take,
or number two, just add a bunch of sea
vegetables into your diet because sea vegetables,
like seaweed, are very high in iodine. And I would assume that
they’re also Paleo friendly. So this is just
something to be aware of. If you are a Paleo

optimize your thyroid gland is to avoid doing
too much cardio. Research shows that people
who do too much cardio have suppressed T4
