Healthy Orange Chicken | Gluten Free, Paleo & Whole30

– Hey guys and welcome back to the FFF HQ. We have made a Whole 30
sweet and sour chicken, which is linked above. We have also made a paleo
and low carb and keto beefy broccoli, which is linked above. So, the natural next step
is Whole 30 orange chicken. It’s sweet and tangy
and naturally sweetened with orange juice and is
gluten, grain and dairy free, Whole 30 friendly and paleo friendly, but you’ll never believe it’s a healthier and better for you takeout fake out. So let’s dive right into this recipe. So step one to make the perfect paleo sweet and tangy orange chicken is to make our orange chicken sauce. So, because it’s orange chicken, we need a little orange pow of flavor. So we’re gonna use half of
the zest of a medium orange. (upbeat music) So once you have about half an orange, just add it right into a bowl. So next step, like I said, we’re gonna naturally sweeten
this with orange juice to give it a lot of orange flavor as well. So we have three quarters
of a cup of orange juice, which is not from concentrate. We have a tablespoon of coconut aminos, which is that soy free
alternative to soy sauce, which is made from the
sap of coconut tree. And then a little bit of rice vinegar to balance out the sweetness
from the orange juice. We wanna give a little bit of spice with just a pinch of red pepper flakes. And hit that with just a
little bit of sea salt. And you’re just gonna
whisk it all together. Now we’re gonna go get a
little saucy on the stove. So we have a little bit of
our high heat avocado oil and you just wanna add
about half a tablespoon into a medium pan and heat
it on medium high heat. So now we’re gonna use a
little bit of chopped ginger. I always buy mine pre-chopped because I think it makes
life a little bit easier, as well as garlic. Gonna cook that until
nice and golden brown. Once that’s all golden brown and fragrant, just gonna add in our orange sauce. Stir it until combined. So once it’s boiling and boiling away, we have one teaspoon of tapioca starch, which is out natural thickener. So we’re gonna put in two
teaspoons of the hot sauce and whisk it until smooth. Then, while constantly stirring, add it right into your sauce. (upbeat music) So you wanna let this boil
until it begins to thicken, so that’s about a minute
or so, stirring constantly. Once it begins to start thickening up, you just wanna turn the temperature down to medium low and cook it
until it’s thick and glossy, so three to four minutes. You can see, it’s nice
and thick and glossy, so now we’re gonna make our chicken. So I just wanna transfer
that to a small bowl so it can thicken a little bit more while we make our chicken. So I wanna cover it with
a little bit of tin foil, or whatever you prefer, to keep it warm. And by the magic of television, I found some chicken. So now we’re just gonna slice
it into little one inch cubes and then we’ll bread it. (upbeat music) So now we’re gonna take
a large Ziploc bag, three tablespoons of tapioca starch, put it right into your bag. (upbeat music) Add a little bit of salt. And throw your chicken
right into that bag. Zip her up and shake, shake, shake. Once your chicken is well coated, we’re gonna go bring it onto the stove. Before we get our little chicken dance on, we’re gonna make some cauliflower rice. So pretty easy. We have half a head of cauliflower. You just wanna chop it into large florets. (upbeat music) And just transfer it right
into your food processor. I always use a little one, but you can use a big
one, whatever you have. And then you just wanna put your lid on and we’re going to pulse it until it’s broken down and rice like. (pulsating) It’s nice and broken down
and cauliflower rice ready, so we’re ready to go cook
it up with our chicken. So we’re gonna start by
sizzling up our chicken. So you wanna about a tablespoon of, again, that high heat avocado oil, put it into your pan and
heat it up to medium high. When it’s all nice and hot and swirly, we’re gonna put about half of the chicken pieces right into it. (slow music) You wanna make sure you leave some space so they get nice and crispy. Swirl it around so the oil
coats all of the chicken and cook it for about two to three minutes until each side is golden brown. Alright, so once a couple
minutes have been up, you can see it’s nice and golden brown, so you just wanna flip
all your chicken over. (chicken sizzling) (slow music) Alright, so once the bottom
side is golden brown, you just wanna transfer
all your chicken pieces to a paper towel or on a plate so it absorbs the excess oil. So while that chicken is cooking, you just wanna add your cauliflower rice into some hot avocado oil and we’re gonna cook it for
about four or five minutes until it’s nice and golden brown. It’s nice and golden brown and crispy, so we are ready to go
assemble our chicken. So we have our chilled orange sauce and now we just gotta add all
of our chicken right into it. (upbeat music) And just stir it until that sauce is nice and coated on the chicken. So, now we’re ready to assemble. You just want to spoon your
cauliflower rice into your bowl. And now we’re ready with our chicken. (upbeat music) If you want a little extra orange flavor, you can tuck in some nice
peeled naval oranges. (upbeat music) Once your chicken and
cauliflower rice are plated, if you wanna get a little fancy, you can garnish with
some sliced green onion and some sesame seeds and then you are ready to devour. And there you have it. Orange chicken that is paleo friendly, Whole 30 friendly,
dairy free, gluten free, grain free and sugar
free, but not taste free. You are never gonna go
back to your Friday night takeout fake out MSG coma again. So if you try this recipe, please leave a comment below and let me know what you think. I also really appreciate
