Exercise Global Dexterity

Exercise Global Dexterity

Exercise Global Dexterity was the first
time the Australian Air Force C-17’s two of those, were conducting air drop
and air land training missions with our friends from the United States Air
Force. They brought over their C-17’s for two weeks and during which time we’re
flying a number of missions both up and down the east coast where we are
completely for the first time as an Air Force for us, interoperating with them
and that means that I might be flying with a United States Air Force copilot
next to me my loadmaster will be operating with you with their United
States equivalent and we’re completely integrating as one squadron for this
exercise. We had our three C-17’s two of them Australian C-17’s and one
of them from the United States. We took off out of Amberley, we intercepted two
of our KC-30’s which is our refueling aircraft and then we conducted
refueling for about an hour and a half with them in a cell formation refuel
from there we did some simulated air drops around that Whitsundays area where
we simulated dropping both equipment and troops and then we did a
low navigation exercise that took us back down south past Fraser Island
coming back and getting some actual air drops done to our to our drop zone just
here at Amberley.
