Easy Fruit Tree Care and Maintenance, Episode 5 | Orchard People

Step number nine monitoring your trees
so here is the great news about fruit trees. There are really only a handful of
diseases that each type of fruit tree can commonly get and if you know how to
identify symptoms and signs of those problems you’ll be able to prevent those
diseases from spreading. You just need to heed that old Boy Scout motto “be
prepared”. So the last step in easy fruit tree care is to monitor your fruit trees
weekly during the growing season. Here’s how I do this: I learned to identify the
common fruit tree diseases and pests for each type of fruit tree that I have in
my orchard. I monitor my fruit trees weekly looking for early signs of these
problems. If I see any problems I use the appropriate organic technique needed to
nip that problem in the bud. Some tools I’ll use involve pruning or using simple
organic sprays. Once I figured out this nine step system our lives as orchard
volunteers became so much easier. Now our trees produce better crops. We have fewer
fruit tree challenges. And increased confidence means growing fruit trees is
less stressful and more fun. And our community orchard is now a hub of
activity and a wonderful place to visit where people of all ages can enjoy our
pollinator garden our fruit trees and our annual harvest. When I started I
didn’t have a local mentor to help me figure this stuff out so my goal is to
ensure that no one else has to grow fruit trees without support. That’s why I
created my online fruit tree care training course. It’s for anyone in North
America or beyond who wants to know how to grow organic fruit trees successfully
wherever they live. My course is for home growers, for arborists, for organic
gardeners and for community orchardists. it’s
