What’s the best way to exercise for weight
loss? Exercise for weight loss. Before I even answer
the question of what is the best exercise for weight loss, let me just make perfectly
clear that exercise in and of itself is not the answer to a weight problem. The solution
to a weight problem is food first. There’s just no way, there’s no amount of exercise,
that can pull a body out of a weight issue crisis. We were in the health and fitness
industry for 25 years. I understand the concept of exercising to burn calories, exercise to
initiate a weight loss, but 9 times out of 10, that’s an unhappy, frustrated ending,
because if we don’t change our lifestyle and the foods that we’re putting into our bodies
every day, we will be chasing that scale for the rest of our lives. We will never get out of what I call [“tresco”
00:01:24], treading water in a sea of chronic overwhelm. Exercising constantly to compensate
for the diet that we have fallen into, and you know, the diet that we’ve fallen into
is not your fault, it’s not my fault, completely, because we are fed so many mistruths, half
lies … I call it nutritionism. Mantras and ways of looking at food that aren’t 100 percent
accurate, and they’re fed to us by media, the government, medical communities, dietitians,
nutritions, celebrity chefs. It goes on, right? We gather bits of information and create what
we think is the best diet for a healthy body, someone who’s health-minded, health-conscious,
which is what were and still are, but the answers that we had come up with in years
past, eating low fat, portion controlling, calorie counting, just exercise a little more.
Your problems will go away if you just can get a little bit more exercise. It doesn’t
work. We have to start with the very foundation of our body and the very foundation of our
body, every day we create it, through the foods that we choose to eat. Back to the question of best exercise, excuse
me, for weight loss, really comes down … The question becomes this. It’s really about the
best exercise for weight management and for not only physical health of our body but the
emotional health of our body, because exercise should be a pleasurable activity, and anything
that’s not pleasurable is going to spike our stress hormone, cortisol, so that’s going
to put us at a disadvantage for losing weight if the exercise we’re doing is actually working
against us rather than for us because of the stress hormone. Cut to the chase though, if I was to prescribe
the best exercise for weight loss or weight management, it would be some kind of intervaled
intensity activity that has some weight bearing exercise involved too, so, for example, some
kind of cardio or aerobic movement, whether it’s walking, marching, full-out boxing, wherever
you are in your life, mixed with some weight training, so some resistance, weight-bearing
muscle movement type thing. Why does this work? Because what we’re really
doing when we exercise, not so much burning calories. You can’t burn enough calories every
time you exercise to compensate, so it’s not about calories. What we’re really doing when
we exercise, we’re boosting our mitochondria. These are the powerhouse of every cell in
our body, and the more mitochondria we have, the more mitochondria you have, and the stronger
your mitochondria is, weight loss is effortless, but you have to understand the science behind
it, and it’s easier than it sounds, and I’m telling you, the foods that you should be
