Of course, there’s no need to go completely overboard with fitness and nutrition… But it also goes without saying that healthy food can be really tasty and that exercise can be great fun. My name is Stefanie Cyron, and I’m committed to making sure that healthy eating and more frequent exercise become part of our daily lives. Bavaria’s nutrition education initiative is specifically aimed at young children and the “55-plus” generation. Healthy eating is hugely important for children and infants. We therefore work in particularly in close partnerships with parents of children up to three years of age. We come into daycare centres and show the whole family how easy it is to change their eating habits and start eating more healthily. Some of our key questions are: What’s the best thing for a busy mum or dad to pack for their child’s lunch when time is of the essence? And what’s the best way for parents to prepare simple, tasty meals that are healthy and not too expensive? Bavaria’s State Ministry for Nutrition ensures that all its information is presented in a way that fits in with daily routine and also reflects the latest research. I know from my own experience that exercise is just as important as nutrition when it comes to keeping healthy. Once again, it’s the little things that make a difference. For instance, you can make going for a walk with your child more exciting by imitating different animals or trying out different ways of getting around. It really doesn’t take much to make a little walk that bit more interesting – for your child and your family as a whole. And when I see that parents take something home with them after our events like going on to do more exercise in their spare time or enjoying tasty, healthier food – that inspires me to try something new as well!
